Anatomy
and Physiology
Background
It is helpful for healers to
have a good understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body. This
helps us to understand what might be going on inside a client who comes to us
for healing.
There has been a wide body
of understanding of the human body for a long time and there are plenty of
books around written in different styles which we can buy for our learning
about it.
There might be times,
however, when we need to show external organisations that we have a basic
understanding of the human body and when we will be offered work if organisations
have confidence in what we know. This is likely to be particularly relevant in
the future as publicly funded healthcare centres embrace complementary and
alternative therapies more widely than at present. In these situations, it might
be helpful to be able to show attainment of acceptable qualifications as
confirmation of what we have learned.
I give some possible
distance learning solutions for anatomy and physiology on this page. I have
spent some time researching this area but you might be able to find alternative
solutions that you are happy with. Learning about anatomy does not involve the
development of personal or social skills where it is helpful to be with a
teacher face to face and can be undertaken easily by distance with learning
times flexed around your daily work patterns.
Accreditation
/ Awarding Bodies
There are
a number of accreditation or awarding bodies in the English education
sector. They assess the quality and levels of courses offered by training
organisations and institutions. The level of accreditation of a course can be
an important factor in obtaining employment with employers and institutions in
the healthcare sector. Please click here
to read more about accreditation.
Courses
which are not accredited
There are a number of
distance learning courses available in Anatomy and Physiology which are
recognised by some of the Alternative Therapy Professional Associations but
which are not accredited by one of the Government approved Accreditation and
Awarding Bodies. Could interested
readers please note this in the context that such lack of Government based
accreditation could be problematic when applying for employment.
