Astrology – Aspects Tables The
file from my training manuals about Western Astrology has been reproduced on
this website and can be found by clicking here. The
file gives an overview about how Western Astrology works and is relevant to
healing in the context of the stresses that difficult astrological aspects
can create for a person either internally or in the interaction with the
external world. The
exact astrological aspects referred to in the file reflect the most powerful
energy connections between two planets in a horoscope. However, it is almost
never the case that the horoscope of a person has such exact aspects between
all the planets. The effects of the aspects are still relevant but weaker
where the angles between two planets in the horoscope are just a few degrees
more or less than the exact angles described above. If
the aspects between planets are more than a few degrees away from the exact
aspects, the strength of the energetic connection will still be there to some
extent but will be considerable weaker. In such situations it is advisable to
follow the more generalised approach to
understanding the energies in a horoscope as given on this page. The Microsoft Word version of this page can
be found by clicking here
and is part of Chapter 3 of the training manuals which contain the Foundation
Chapters. There
is compatibility of signs in the same element. There is general compatibility
between earth signs and water signs. There is also general compatibility
between air signs and fire signs. Earth signs are generally incompatible with
air signs and fire signs. Water signs are generally incompatible with air
signs and fire signs. Air signs are
generally incompatible with earth and water signs. Fire signs are generally
incompatible with earth and water signs. As
some people prefer to look up compatibility from tables, the following tables
give some idea of how this works. The tables show the relationship that the
sign in the left column has with other signs in the same row. A simple rule
to follow is that signs which are next to each other, three signs and five
signs away from each other in the zodiac wheel are incompatible with each
other. Signs which are two, four and six signs away from each other in the
zodiac wheel are compatible with each other.
The
tables are not intended to show the compatibility or incompatibility between
signs in columns 2 and 3. When
using the terminology compatible I mean that the energies work together
easily. When using the terminology incompatible I mean that the energies do
not work together easily. This creates a challenge for the person affected as
he / she has to be able to integrate and to work with incompatible energies
even though this might not be easy. If the person has difficulty integrating
the energies, it can cause internal stress.
It can be confusing for other people as they are never quite sure
which part of a person’s personality they will be dealing with and this can
cause stress in inter-personal and working relationships. The
overall approach that I use in trying to understand somebody’s horoscopes is
to look for the general relationships between signs as given in the tables
below. This will help to give a general understanding of a person’s likely
personality and behavioural patterns. It is often the case that two or three
distinct sets of relationships between planets (both
compatible or incompatible) are present in the horoscope and these are
indicators of different aspects of personality that the person could have.
The next step is to look for the very specific aspects between planets
referred to in the overview file as these will pinpoint the more dominant
personality traits and behaviours. Finally, if the
time of birth is known with accuracy, I would then try to focus on how the house
positions of the planets affect everything. An
illustration of how I would go about trying to interpret a horoscope may be
found by clicking here
to go to another page on this website. Table 1
: Incompatible aspects between planets in neighbouring
signs in the zodiac wheel This
table is for what I would call incompatible aspects between planets in neighbouring signs in the zodiac wheel. This is because the planets are in incompatible
elements and the signs do not work easily with each other. The first line
shows Aries, Taurus and Pisces. Aries is a fire sign. Taurus is an earth
sign. Pisces is a water sign. Any planets in Aries in a horoscope will have an
incompatible relationship with other planets in Taurus or in Pisces. In the third
line are Gemini, Cancer and Taurus. Any planets in Gemini in a horoscope will
have incompatible relationships with other planets in Cancer and Taurus. The
effect of the energy relationships shown in this table will be similar to
that of the semi-sextile aspect but weaker.
Table
2 : Compatible aspects between planets two signs away in the zodiac wheel - not
in the same element but excluding opposite signs This
table is for what I would call compatible aspects between planets not in the
same element but excluding opposite signs.
To put it another way, it refers to aspects to planets two signs away
around the horoscope wheel in either direction from the sign in the first
column. The first line shows Aries,
Gemini and Aquarius. Aries is a fire sign. Gemini and Aquarius are air signs.
Any planets in Aries in a horoscope will have a compatible relationship with
other planets in Gemini and Aquarius. In the second line are Taurus, Cancer
and Pisces. Any planets in Taurus in a horoscope will have a compatible
relationship with other planets in Cancer and Pisces. The effect of the
energy relationships shown in this table will be similar to that of the
sextile aspect but weaker.
Table
3 : Incompatible aspects between planets three signs away in the zodiac wheel This
table is for what I would call incompatible aspects between planets three
signs away in the zodiac wheel. This
is because the planets are not in a compatible element and the signs do not
work easily with each other. The first line shows Aries, Cancer and Capricorn.
Aries is a fire sign. Cancer is a water sign and Capricorn is an earth sign.
Any planets in Aries in a horoscope will have an incompatible relationship
with other planets in Cancer and Capricorn. In the second line are Taurus, Leo
and Aquarius. Any planets in Taurus in a horoscope will have an incompatible
relationship with other planets in Leo and Aquarius. The effect of the energy
relationships shown in this table will be similar to that of the square
aspect but weaker.
Table 4 : Compatible aspects between planets in the
same element four signs away in the zodiac wheel This
table is for what I would call compatible aspects between planets in the same
element. The first line shows Aries,
Leo and Sagittarius. These are all fire signs. Any planets in fire signs in a
horoscope will have a compatible relationship with each other even if the
angles of the aspects between then are too wide for the full power of a trine
relationship to be present. In the second line are Taurus, Virgo and
Capricorn. Any planets in these signs in a horoscope will all have a
compatible relationship with each other because they are all in the element
of earth. The effect will be similar to that of the trine aspect but weaker. Please note that the signs in each line of
the table are four signs away from each other in the zodiac wheel.
Table 5
: Incompatible aspects between planets five signs away in the zodiac wheel This
table is for what I would call incompatible aspects between planets five
signs away signs in the zodiac wheel.
This is because the planets are in incompatible elements and the signs
do not work easily with each other. The first line shows Aries, Virgo and
Scorpio. Aries is a fire sign. Virgo is an earth sign. Scorpio is a water
sign. Any planets in Aries in a horoscope will have an incompatible
relationship with other planets in Virgo or in Scorpio. In the second line
are Taurus, Libra and Sagittarius. Any planets in Taurus in a horoscope will
have incompatible relationships with other planets in Libra and Sagittarius.
The effect of the energy relationships shown in this table will be similar to
that of the semi-sextile aspect but weaker.
Table
6 : Compatible aspects between planets six signs away in the zodiac wheel This
table is for what I would call compatible aspects between planets six signs
away in the zodiac wheel. This is
because the planets are in compatible elements and the signs work easily with
each other. The first line shows Aries and Libra. Aries is a fire sign. Libra
is an air sign. Any planets in Aries in a horoscope will have a compatible
relationship with other planets in Libra. In the second line are Taurus and
Scorpio. Any planets in Taurus in a horoscope will have a compatible
relationship with other planets in Scorpio. The effect of the energy
relationships shown in this table will be similar to that of the opposite
aspect but weaker.
