Nutrition
Background
It is helpful for healers to
have a good all round understanding of the human condition including the impact
of diet upon the health of the physical body. Here in the UK, although we
have the wealth to afford good food, many people have poor diets and eat too
much of the wrong kinds of food and too little of the right kinds of foods. This
is why the UK
is starting to follow the American trend for people to be overweight. In
particular, the acid / alkaline balance within many people is not good and
there is a time bomb ticking away at present with many people likely to face an
old age of poor physical health because an acid / alkaline imbalance has taken
its toll over the years. Many people will come to energy healers for help with
physical conditions which are caused by poor diet and which might be better
resolved by improving diet than by coming for repeated energy healing sessions.
It will be helpful for healers therefore to know enough about these matters so
that they can give good guidance to clients on the best way forward.
There is a lot of
information around about the nutritional needs of the physical body and plenty
of books around written in different styles which we can buy for our learning
about diet.
There might be times,
however, when we need to show external organisations that we have a basic
understanding of the factors influencing human health and when we will be
offered work if organisations have confidence in what we know. This is likely
to be particularly relevant in the future as publicly funded healthcare centres
embrace complementary and alternative therapies more widely than at present. In
these situations, it might be helpful to be able to show attainment of
acceptable qualifications as confirmation of what we have learned.
I give some possible
distance learning solutions for nutrition of the physical body on this page. I
have spent some time researching this area but you might be able to find
alternative solutions that you are happy with. Learning about nutrition does
not involve the development of personal or social skills where it is helpful to
be with a teacher face to face and can be undertaken easily by distance with
learning times flexed around your daily work patterns.
Accreditation
/ Awarding Bodies
There are
a number of accreditation or awarding bodies in the English education
sector. They assess the quality and levels of courses offered by training
organisations and institutions. The level of accreditation of a course can be
an important factor in obtaining employment with employers and institutions in
the healthcare sector. Please click here
to read more about accreditation.
Courses
which are not accredited
There are distance learning
courses available in Nutrition which are recognised by some of the Alternative Therapy
Professional Associations but which are not accredited by one of the Government
approved Accreditation and Awarding Bodies.
Could interested readers please note this in the context that such lack
of Government based accreditation could be problematic when applying for
employment.
