Snow Lion Publications of Ithaca, New York, is one of the suppliers that I use for Tibetan Buddhism related products.

Although a long way away, I have bought from Snow Lion over many years and have always received good products and services from them.

The Seed Syllable and Mantra Cards that I use for work with Avalokiteshvara, Green Tara and the Medicine Buddha come from Snow Lion as do the Mandala Cards that I work with sometimes. They can be found in the Andy Weber section of the cards catalogue on the Snow Lion website. There are several pages of Andy Weber cards to click through.

The online cards catalogue also contains deity image cards from various artists which are good for meditation purposes.

There is a good selection of Sadhana CDs in the online CD section including chants and mantras for Avalokiteshvara, Green Tara and the Medicine Buddha.

Elsewhere on the website can be found many other Dharma related items – prayer flags, banners, curtains, malas, cushions, incense, chimes, singing bowls, pendants, etc.. The website also offers a wide range of books.

Snow Lion produce a free quarterly magazine with electronic subscription which gives details of news and events and of new products coming into stock.

Overall, Snow Lion is a good supplier for people connected to Tibetan Buddhism practice to have in their address book.

If you are buying from the USA, please note the following:

· Import duty and VAT (Value Added Tax or Sales Tax) are chargeable on the value of all imports into the UK where the value is above the personal Customs Allowance. Most of us are familiar with the personal Customs Allowance as this is what we have to bear in mind when bringing back items purchased when out of the country on holiday. If we import goods valued at less than the personal Customs Allowance, no tax is payable. In the past, I have not been able to persuade HM Revenue and Customs to allow spiritual training material to be treated as exempt from tax when I have imported with values higher than the personal Customs Allowance.

· For tax purposes, the value of any items imported will include the cost of shipping.

· Information about current rates of tax may be found from HM Revenue and Customs. The main website is at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/home.htm. It is not easy to find all the necessary information on this website so it might be easier to use the helpline for some guidance.
