The Usui System of Natural Healing

From The Reiki Alliance

This is a page in the Recommended Listening, Reading and Viewing section of this website about the book ‘The Usui System of Natural Healing’ issued by The Reiki Alliance.

The Reiki Alliance is the organisation created by Phyllis Furomoto to promote the practice of Reiki. Phyllis is the granddaughter of Hawayo Takata and is one of Hawayo’s original 22 Reiki Masters. This small book might be of interest to people who practice Reiki.

The book has two main sections. The first section reproduces some simple extracts from Hawayo Takata’s diary giving Hawayo’s interpretation of what Mikao Usui’s Reiki is and its effects on the human body. The second section reproduces the traditional story of the history of the Mikao Usui Reiki lineage down through Chujiro Hayashi to Hawayo Takata.

The book is not a technical manual about how to work with Reiki and does not serve as a technical accompaniment to any Reiki training manual. It is, however, a useful book for people who are interested in collecting literature about the history of how Reiki came to be passed down through Hawayo Takata to the world.

The book is approximately 21.5cm x 14.0cm and has 24 pages. It is a very small book and therefore does not contain any depth of information.

The text and layout is the work of Phyllis Furomoto and Paul Mitchell.

It was published by The Reiki Alliance and does not have an ISBN.

If the book is not available from the Reiki Alliance website, internet search should throw up number of used copies of this book. They are most likely to be found on sites like eBay and Amazon and the online second hand booksellers.
