Homestay Accommodation and Meals in Kathmandu
has been posted to my website to give information about homestay
accommodation and meals in Kathmandu
with a Nepalese family. If anybody might be interested in enquiring about
staying with the family, contact details are given at the end of the page.
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. It has an international
airport with regular scheduled flights from around the world so is one of the
main gateways into Nepal
for visitors from outside the country.
Kathmandu and the neighbouring districts of Lalitpur
and Bhaktapur are in their own right popular
destinations for Europeans visiting the spiritual sites there. The world
famous temples and stupas include Pashupatinath, Changunarayan, Swayambu and Boudhanath. The
temples and stupas are found in different locations
around the valley that Kathmandu
is located in. Some are in the central area of Kathmandu but the others are some distance
away elsewhere in the valley.
visitors use Kathmandu also as the starting point
for trips around Nepal to
visit places such as Swargadwari, Gosain Kunda in Langtang
National Park, Devghat, Manakamana, Pathibhara, and Lukla.
accommodation is offered in Kathmandu
by the Sharma family who I know. They live about 1.6 kilometres
away from Kathmandu’s international airport and can go to meet visitors at
the airport if required. The accommodation is in their home. Two single
bedrooms without private en suite bathroom facilities are available for
visitors. The living quarters and the bathroom facilities are shared with the
family. Meals are available as required and are eaten with the family. The
cuisine is Nepalese vegetarian. The languages spoken are English and
Sharma family can help your visit to Nepal go smoothly in many other
ways. They are available to give guidance on how best to get around Kathmandu and can help you to plan your trips to other
parts of Nepal.
They can act as tour guide for you and can accompany you as you travel around
both Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal. They can provide packed
meals for you to take with you when you are out visiting during the daytime.
Internet access is available if you need to check e-mails or research places
you would like to visit. They can help you to hire bicycles or to call taxis.
Mr.Sharma can take you to his home village if you
would like an authentic ‘insider’ experience of day to day life in a Nepalese
village. Suitcases can be left in their home if you are going to be away for
several days or weeks. They can help you to find international shippers if
you buy bulky items on your visit and need to send them home. They will show
you how to cook in the Nepalese style if you would like.
